  • Overlake Park Presbyterian Church 1836 156th Ave NE Bellevue, WA USA (map)

On Saturday, July 8, we'll be hiking from Hyak to the Annette Lake Trailhead via the Snoqualmie Tunnel. The tunnel is 2.25 miles long and very dark. The weather looks perfect for the hike with high temperatures in the mid-70s. However, the tunnel will be cool, possibly as low as 40 degrees. We'll be inside the tunnel for a little over an hour, so you'll need warm clothes for that portion of the hike. Headlamps or flashlights are also essential. Make sure everything has fresh batteries or a recent charge.

Total hike distance is about 5 miles and it's all downhill! After the hike, we've been invited to enjoy a potluck at Neal and Betty's Chalet at Alpental. Please bring something to share. Neal and Betty will provide basic beverages.

We'll be doing a car shuttle, The car(s) left at the Annette Lake Trailhead will need Northwest Forest Passes, while the cars parked at Hyak will need Discover Passes. We will meet at the church at 10:00 AM. An alternate meeting point at Sunset Elementary, just off I-90 at Exit 13 around 10:15 AM, is also possible.

The schedule for the day is as follows:

10:00 AM Leave OPPC

11:30 AM Gegin Hike at Hyak Trailhead

2:30 PM Annette Lake Trailhead; start car shuttle

3:00 - 3:15 PM Arrive at Chalet

Remember: Warm clothes for the tunnel, flashlight or headlamp, potluck item to share (in cooler for during the hike), water, snacks.

Please let me know (nancydevine63@gmail.com) by Friday morning if you plan to attend and if you can drive.

Looking forward to a fun hike and potluck!
