The next OPPC Hiking Fellowship hike (#142) will be an urban walk in the High Point neighborhood in West Seattle on April 30. On this walk we will go to 6 city parks, 2 viewpoints, 2 public stairs, 1 cemetery (hopefully just walking through and not staying), a trail through a wooded area, and the highest point in Seattle. We will also walk part of the City of Seattle's High Point Tree Walk to identify unique and beautiful trees in the High Point neighborhood. This is a 3.5 – 4 mile loop walk that begins and ends at the High Point Community Center. There will be some moderate elevation gain and loss, but the net change will assuredly be zero.
Because there will be a church lunch right after church that day, we will start the meet-up and hike a half hour later than normal. Meet at the church at 1:00 PM or at the High Point Community Center, 6920 34th Ave SW, Seattle at 1:30. Please RSVP to Dean Tyler, jdeantyler@gmail.com, by Saturday, April 29, if you are going to participate and if you are carpooling from the church or meeting at the High Point Community Center.
Remember our next hikes will be on May 21 and June 11.
#143 5/21 Dirty Harry's Balcony 4.4 miles, 1200 feet elevation gain
